Neither Stanford nor Oregon has to love where it is in the Week 11 AP Poll and the Week 11 USA Today coaches poll, but the good news for both teams is that their Week 11 showdown may help them alter their altitude.
The No. 2 coaches/No. 3 AP Cardinal are likely to be the No. 3 team in the BCS rankings released Sunday night, but they could take the No. 2 spot in both polls and the No. 2 BCS ranking that might come with it by beating No. 6 AP/No. 6 coaches Oregon this Saturday.
On the flip side, Oregon could probably move past Boise State and close to Alabama in the polls and BCS standings with a convincing win over Stanford, and would be no more than a couple losses by other high-ranked teams from a second consecutive shot at a BCS title.
If this seems dismissive of the Pac-12 Championship Game Stanford and Oregon would still have to play after winning next Saturday, well, so are the polls. UCLA isn't ranked by either the AP voters or the coaches, and the Bruins look like the Pac-12 South's favorite after dispatching Arizona State this weekend. They'll have to get by No. 18 AP USC, but stranger things have happened in that rivalry.
