Texas A&M Aggies running back Christine Michael, who has rushed for 899 yards and his the team’s leading rusher, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL that he suffered in Saturday’s loss to the Oklahoma Sooners, according to coach Mike Sherman.
The junior also missed the last five games of the 2010 season due to a broken leg.
The Aggies wil look to senior Cyrus Gray to take over in the top spot for the team. Gray is no slouch, attaining 733 yards on the season. He also led A&M with 1,133 yards in 2010. He'll get the bulk of the carries when the Aggies face-off against a reeling Kansas State Wildcats team on Saturday.
Michael had already said he would return to the school for his senior season. Given his current status, it looks like that decision ended up being made for him. He'll return to the Aggies as they open SEC play in 2012.
