After Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain opted to take over at Colorado State, the Fresno St. Bulldogs have reportedly turned to Texas A&M Aggies defensive coordinator and interim head coach Tim DeRuyter. He's in charge of A&M's efforts against Northwestern in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, so expect him to stick around until then, if reports are accurate.
Media outlets from both geographical vicinities are reporting the move or something like it:
@KevyTV Congrats to Tim DeRuyter on the head coaching job at Fresno St. Great with the media & very passionate coach! Bulldogs are lucky to have him
@CollinsESPN1430 Texas A&M D-coordinator Tim DeRuyter is the possible leading candidate for the Fresno State football coaching opening.

DeRuyter reportedly interviewed over the weekend, just after McElwain and Oakland Raiders assistant Kelly Skipper. The Long Beach native has had an interesting career progression since playing quarterback at Air Force in the '90s:
1991-94
1995-98
1999-2001
2002-04
2005-06
2007-09
2010-present

Ohio (DC/Secondary)
Navy (Secondary)

Nevada (co-DC)
Air Force (DC/Safeties)
Texas A&M (DC)

If he does join the Mountain West conference, he'll get to coach against Air Force annually. Oh, the story lines.
