The Sam Houston State Bearkats look like they could be on their way to advancing to the FCS National Title Game, currently leading the Montana Grizzlies 28-14 at halftime. Early on, the Bearkats jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead, in part thanks to some impressive running by Tim Flanders. At the half, Flanders has 10 carries for 183 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Brian Bell had two touchdowns in the air and another touchdown on the ground.
Montana, while on the ropes, was able to cut into the Bearkats lead in the second quarter. Jordan Johnson connected with Jabin Sambrano on a 30-yard touchdown pass to put their first points on the board. A few drives later the Bearkats increased their lead to 28-7, but thanks to an interception returned for a touchdown with a minute left before half, the Grizzlies entered the half trailing just 28-14.
