Georgia Southern VS NDSU Score: Bison Take Early Lead In FCS Playoffs

Stay connected with SB Nation

The NDSU Bison are out to a good start in their quest to make the FCS championship game against Sam Houston State. North Dakota State took advantage of its home field advantage at the Fargo Dome, scoring in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead over Georgia Southern.

The Bison offense wasn't spectacular as they were forced to punt on their first two drives, but the North Dakota State defense allowed its offense to prove that the third time is the charm. Senior linebacker Chad Wilson recovered a fumble by way of a busted play in the Georgia Southern backfield and NDSU's offense was able to capitalize on the turnover rather quickly.

Quarterback Brock Jensen was charged with a delay of game on the first play of the drive, moving NDSU's offense back from the 17 to the 22-yard line, but he made up for that just two plays later. Jensen threw a beautiful pass to the back of the end zone that connected with Warren Holloway for a 19-yard touchdown strike to give the Bison an early 7-0 lead.
