Florida's search for its next offensive coordinator may not conclude until after the Gators take on Ohio State in the Gator Bowl in January — Will Muschamp's professed interest in having a coach with NFL experience may mean that he will wait to hire someone until after current NFL coaches become available for interviews — but the Gators have interviewed at least one target. Michael DiRocco of ESPN's GatorNation blog reports that Muschamp interviewed Kerwin Bell ($), Jacksonville University head coach, on Wednesday.
Bell has been a fashionable choice for some Florida fans; he was a Florida quarterback in the 1980s, and his system borrows from Steve Spurrier, who he served under as a graduate assistant. And Bell's had success in low-level Florida football, both as a coach at Trinity Catholic High, where he helped make John Brantley a coveted recruit, and Jacksonville, where he has been the head coach since 2007.
