VIDEO: Notre Dame On Ice Does Contain One Important Note Of Truth

You might question the verisimilitude of this depiction of Notre Dame football. There are some variations one can attribute to creative license. Notre Dame has not played on ice since the Tyrone Willingham era, when the coach froze the field in an effort to "build character and slow down opposing passing offenses." This resulted in 43 missing persons and several losses for the Irish. (This sentence applies to no fewer than three events during the Willingham era.)

There are other inaccuracies, too.

Star-divide

---Football is played with more than four men.

---It is not played in a skating rink.

---The band typically does not play during offensive possessions.

---Play is not ceased so "Brian Boitano can glissade along to the tune of swingin' Christmas tunes."

There is one great accuracy in all this, though. When a Notre Dame football player throws a touchdown in 2011, it is always from outside the red zone, as all plays inside the 20 must result in a turnover even when the game is played on ice with four men.
