Dorial Green-Beckham, the top receiver in the country out of Springfield, MO's Hillcrest High School, had a busy week of recruiting.
The 6'6", 220-pound receiver started off his week by being named the player of the year. Not just in his classification or state, mind you, but in the entire country. And not just for football, but for any sport. By The Sporting News:
Sporting News named Green-Beckham the high school athlete of the year for 2011, edging football players Maty Mauk (a Missouri commit) and Johnathan Gray (Texas). Duke guard Austin Rivers, from Winter Park, Fla., also was a finalist.
The wide receiver, who has said his final five schools in play are Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and Texas, just spent much of the week in New York City promoting the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, where he is a finalist for the player of the year award. His only official visit so far has been last month to Texas.
Green-Beckham was likely tired from his week of travel promoting the U.S. Army All-American game.
