According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the Belk Bowl has now sold more than 55,000 tickets to this year's game.
Retail giant Belk is the new sponsor, taking over for Meineke, and they've been credited with promoting the bowl aggressively.
Having a nearby school like NC State and a somewhat close school like Louisville playing in the game certainly doesn't hurt either.
Last year, the game attracted an all-time low of 41,122 fans and lost $539,000 according to tax filings.
