Dec 22, 2011 - If the UCLA Bruins want to win the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and finish the season with a .500 record, the seemingly impossible is going to have to happen: Kevin Prince is going to have to avoid an injury. Four Bruins players have been suspended for the bowl against the Illinois Fighting Illini, one of them being quarterback Richard Brehaut. Brehaut appeared in seven games this season, starting four of them.
The other three suspended players are senior safety Tony Dye, sophomore offensive lineman Alberto Cid and sophomore linebacker Isiah Bowens. Those three players were all suspended for academic reasons, as they did not meet NCAA academic eligibility standards for the bowl. Brehaut has been suspended for an entirely different reason, a violation of team rules.
None of the four players were starters for the Bruins all season, but all of them saw extensive playing time and had a good chance of appearing at some point during the bowl.
