After the Toledo Rockets posted the first score of the 2011 Military Bowl, they followed it up with another within seconds. An Air Force Falcons special teams mishap set up a 41-yard touchdown run by Adonis Thomas, and just like that it was 14-0, Rockets.

Air Force responded by going for it on fourth down, which they do, and throwing deep for the end zone, which they do more often than their service academy brethren. The latter led to a pass interference penalty in the end zone, giving the Falcons their best drive of the early day.
They took advantage shortly after, when Tim Jefferson called his own number (it is No. 7) and dashed 22 yards to make it 14-7.
