I'm not sure anyone pays much attention to offensive lineman, especially in college football. They toil in anonymity and only gain recognition when making a mistake -- an ill-timed hold, typically. And then there's Oregon lineman Mark Asper.
Asper is the same guy who compared preseason rankings to Baywatch earlier in the season, so we know he's a heck of a quote. Earlier this week he became a hero: Asper performed the Heimlich on a choking man at the Lawry's Beef Bowl, saving the man's life. When asked about the hoopla surrounding his Heimlich Maneuver, Asper had the following to say:
Oregon's Mark Asper: You like being the Heimlich guy? "It's better than suspension guy or speeding ticket guy. I'll take Heimlich guy, sure"
Via George Schroeder
Mark Asper has already won the Rose Bowl, no matter what happens in the game itself.
