Champs Sports Bowl 2011: Notre Dame, Florida State To Square Off, Reportedly

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Florida St. Seminoles will meet in one of the 2011 bowl season's name-brandiest bowl games, according to CBS Sports. The Champs Sports Bowl gets to pair the big-name Irish with the likewise marquee Noles due to Big East contracts. This game has been expected for quite some time now.

It's been known by many names. The Tangerine Bowl. The Blockbuster Bowl. The CarQuest Bowl. The MicronPC Bowl. But now you can call it the Champ Sports Bowl and it will be played Thursday, December 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Normally featuring a match-up between ACC and Big East schools, the game has seen many appearances from NC State (five), Miami (three), Virginia (three) and West Virginia (three). Last year's game saw NC State top West Virginia 23-7.

The game will be televised on ESPN where Joe Tessitore, Rod Gilmore & Holly Rowe will announce.

Game date, time: 5:30 pm ET, Thursday, December 29

Location: Citrus Bowl, Orlando, FL.

TV channel: ESPN

2010 winner and loser: NC State 23 - West Virginia 7
