BCS Rankings, Week 15: Alabama, Not Oklahoma State, To Play LSU

Oklahoma State's demolition of Oklahoma was not enough to put them over Alabama in the final BCS rankings of the regular season, setting up a rematch between the Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers in the national title game.

Dec 4, 2011 - What was a sure thing got a whole lot more uncertain when Oklahoma State dismantled Oklahoma 44-10 on Saturday. The Alabama Crimson Tide were considered the heavy favorites to face the LSU Tigers in the BCS National Championship Game heading into this past weekend, before the Cowboys gave pollsters plenty to think about. Ultimately it wasn't enough, however, with the top three teams in the final BCS rankings of the regular season looking exactly the same from the week before: No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oklahoma State.

Alabama and LSU will meet in New Orleans for a rematch of their Nov. 5 meeting in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers won the first round, 9-6 in a game that featured no shortage of defense.

Boise State finished in the top 10, but will not play in a BCS bowl game. The Broncos ended the regular season at No. 7, but were passed over for an at-large bid.

What a sham of a system.

Absolute Travesty.

A game that proves nothing. Even if Bama wins guess who has a “better loss”?

By the system that got Bama in LSU would be #1 even if they lost the game.

Alabama is not the best team in the nation, they’re not even the best team in their division. Period.

No, they're not the best team.

They’re the SECOND best. That’s all that matters.

by rugman11 on Dec 4, 2011 9:58 PM EST up reply actions

And they have no right to attempt to be the best.

This should be the end...the END of the BCS

Rankings are meaningless…every game matters? Every person who brings up that argument from now on should just shut. the. EF. up. Oklahoma State got screwed…If albama beats LSU on after a second chance then LSU got screwed. Burn the damn place down because the whole thing is worthless.

Elway is in, Zimm is in, Little is FINALLY in but don't forget: Randy Gradishar, Steve Atwater & Terrel Davis

Every game matters

So, Oklahoma St-Iowa St matters, too.

Which is a better loss? to the #1 team in the country or to a 6-6 team?

13.

Who has better wins? Okie State by a country mile.

Boycott ESPN and the BCS. Make this hurt them in their pocketbooks.

As a Boise State fan...

I was quite alright with getting shut out so Kansas State could get in. K-State had a dang good argument and a really good year. But the way things played out… Holy cow. K-State, you got screwed.

I hate the BCS.

But the two best teams will play. No pretenders.
