Multiple Arkansas outlets have reported former Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon is likely to be the next Arkansas Razorbacks defensive coordinator. The Razorbacks let go of defensive coordinator Willy Robinson earlier in the week, part of a dramatic coordinator adjustment that's included Paul Petrino signing on.
According to Tim Reynolds, the Associated Press' Miami man, Shannon's not happening:
@ByTimReynolds For all asking, no, Randy Shannon is not going to Arkansas. At least that's what he's told his close confidantes.
For a while, Shannon's name came attached to every head coach job opening. He's made it clear he wants to be a head coach again. Though his expertise is on the defensive side of the ball, which surely makes him intriguing to many a program looking to upgrade its stopping power, it's not hard to imagine he'll keep holding out for a top job.
