Charlie Strong: 'Not Looking For' Coaching Job Elsewhere

Stay connected with SB Nation

Louisville Cardinals head coach Charlie Strong, who's made it evident he wants to be a SEC coach some day, was reportedly the SEC-bound Texas A&M Aggies' No. 2 choice behind Houston Cougars coach Kevin Sumlin heading into the coaching derby. If you believe this Courier Journal quote from Strong, then it's clear why his name stopped popping up in rumors:

"At some point, just trust me," Strong said. "I'm not looking for a job. I have a job. I'm the head coach at the University of Louisville."

Strong has coached at Louisville for two years since leaving the Florida Gators. He was Urban Meyer's defensive coordinator for almost the entire Meyer era (tongue twister!), since building up a 14-12 record with the Cards.
