This one's been quietly bubbling up all day before a reporter was able to confirm something related to Mark Richt and the Texas A&M head coaching job. That something isn't news related to Richt considering the Aggies head coaching job. But A&M may consider Richt a candidate for the position left vacant after Mike Sherman was fired in a recruit's driveway.
Here's the report, from Brent Zwenerman of the San Antonio Express-News.
Finally got confirmation the Mark Richt talk is legitimate. Should A&M hire him, Bama DC Kirby Smart likely would head home to Georgia.
Legitimate, however, doesn't mean a deal is going to happen. It may mean the Aggies have made an offer, though. Whether Richt would decide to bail out of Athens remains to be seen, but it seems more likely that his agent is letting this one play out during contract extension time.
