Cotton Bowl 2012: Arkansas vs. Kansas State Match-up Exactly What Bowl Wanted

The Cotton Bowl may not be as prestigious as it was during the pre-BCS days, but it might just be the biggest and best non-BCS bowl today. This year's game, which will be held on Jan. 6, will feature the top matchup outside of the BCS in the No. 6-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks and No. 8-ranked Kansas State Wildcats.

Cotton Bowl selection committee chairman Fin Ewing told the Associated Press that he had his eye on both teams for weeks leading up to their selection and just hoped both were still available when the time came.

"We’re really lucky," the Cotton Bowl selection committee chairman said. "We were looking at Arkansas really early on, and we were looking at K-State early on, and then we thought we were going to lose them, and then we got them back. We came down to the last second. We didn’t know what was going on until they came out with the BCS."

"I think I did a great job again," Ewing said with a laugh. "This is going to be an awesome football game. We’re all real excited about it. Coach Petrino has done an outstanding job at Arkansas, and Coach Snyder, he did such a good job the first time that he came back and did it all over again."
