Jadeveon Clowney: Let's Get To Know A Top Football Recruit And Mutant

As National Signing Day approaches, let's get to know the No. 1 recruit in the nation. His name is Jadeveon Clowney, and don't turn around because he might be right behind you.

Name: Jadeveon Clowney. Jadeveon is a name of unknown and novel origin. Clowney is a a derivative of "Cluny," most likely, which is either a place in Perthshire, England or possibly a reference to the site of a Roman thermal bath in Paris. The baths are in ruins, presumably because Clowney's huge ancestors who gave the baths their name accidentally stepped on them.

Height/Weight: 6'6", 247 At the age of eighteen. Scouts believe he'll top out somewhere around 8'3", 375.

40 time: 4.67

Position: Defensive End.  Ominous emphasis on the word "end."

Schools of Interest: At this point, only South Carolina. Clowney seems particularly interested in South Carolina's proximity to his home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, named for the primitive workout spot where he hurled boulders as a toddler. Clowney's not answering his phone right now for anyone, though.

Comparisons: Julius Peppers, Ronald Powell of Florida, Mario Williams, the Predator with a really good personal trainer.

Strengths: Yes.

Weaknesses: If you unfairly excerpt the Rivals' description, um...

Has a tendency to play high...

Since this really isn't a problem in the SEC, we'll assume he has no weaknesses.

Will announce: Sometime past signing day, most likely, following the lead of Seantrel Henderson and Terrelle Pryor in delaying their announcement for maximum drama. The method of announcement is unknown, as well, though he'll look like he's handling beanies if he opts for the baseball cap route. In the meantime, he will stay in shape with his trainer, as seen here in exclusive photos available ONLY on SB Nation.
