Landing four-star LB Lamar Wilson on National Singing Day would go a long way toward shoring up Joker Philips’ 2011 Kentucky Wildcats recruiting class. The Cats have just a single commit rated four stars or higher by Rivals, and their class is expected to roll in ahead of only Vandy in the SEC. Yikes!
The Bluegrass State’s 2010 Mr. Football and the nation’s No. 3 inside linebacker, Dawson is also under hot pursuit by the Tennessee Volunteers, taking a visit just this past weekend. He’s also recently stopped by UCF and USC, though UCF isn’t really in the picture. Oregon is also in the mix, but Tennessee is considered Kentucky’s primary competition for Dawson’s services.
He’s a big, powerful linebacker who’s also a good enough athlete to play tight end and running back for Boyle County, earning Parade All-American honors.
Kentucky has lost recruiting ground to Louisville in the state, and it’d take a couple big signing day gets plus some Cardinals losses to change that. But inking the six-foot-three, 230-pounder from just down the road in Danville will be priority No. 1 for Big Blue.
