Randy Shannon, former Miami Hurricanes head coach, has been offered the Maryland Terrapins defensive coordinator position, according to the Baltimore Sun. Shannon is reportedly interested in the job, as he’s been in any and every job that involves working with college football players. Seriously, you have every reason to believe Randy Shannon loves college football.
Randy Edsall wasn’t the most exciting hire for Terps fans, and his choice of offensive coordinator left many scratching their heads. Gary Crowton? But Shannon would be a pretty inspiring pickup as DC for Maryland. He’s generated interest from UCLA, among other schools, and has a reputation as a great coordinator and good recruiter despite being let go as a head coach.
Before taking over as Miami’s head coach, Shannon led the Canes’ perennially strong defense.
Edsall’s temporary defensive coordinator at Maryland, Don Brown, left the school last week to join the Connecticut Huskies staff that Edsall just left.
