The De'Anthony Thomas recruiting saga is already on its way to an end just two days after it began. Thomas had been firmly committed to Lane Kiffin and the Trojans before suddenly, and surprisingly, showing up on Oregon head coach Chip Kelly's doorstep last weekend. Thomas took a trip to Eugene, reportedly loved his time at Oregon and here we are, waiting on the top athlete in the class of 2011 to choose between the Ducks and Trojans.
Thomas will announce his decision to the world on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a ceremony at Crenshaw High School. No matter what he decides, this is already shaping up to be good television. Either he created a buzz to come out and say it's always been USC, or he's turning his back on Kiffin and the Trojans for Oregon, a recruiting coup of immense proportions.
And which way is he leaning as of now? If you ask ESPN recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, the Ducks will be quacking tomorrow evening.
Of course we can't sign off without one last DeAnthony Thomas (Los Angeles, Calif./Crenshaw) note. The update as of 3 p.m. PT is that Thomas will sign with Oregon.
Remember, it's recruiting and 18-year-old kids we're talking about. Everything can change at a moment's notice, especially with another night to sleep on the decision before signing a Letter of Intent tomorrow evening.
