Marcus Roberson took until National Signing Day to make a decision after apparently committing to and decommitting from Auburn this week. But in the end, he chose the only school he was considering in his home state, committing to Florida this morning.
Roberson, a defensive back from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, chose Florida over Auburn and Texas Tech, both schools he had previously committed to. During his topsy-turvy recruitment, Texas Tech hired his uncle, Otis Mounds, as an assistant coach, and briefly held Roberson's commitment in January. Then, this week, Roberson committed to Auburn on Monday morning but was off the Tigers' recruiting board by midday on Tuesday. Never say recruiting isn't subject to change!
The lure of playing for Will Muschamp on defense and staying in state likely proved too strong for Roberson. He'll follow former Gator Major Wright's footsteps from St. Thomas Aquinas to Gainesville, but should play cornerback.
