NC State Threatening Loyola Over Rights To 'Wolfpack' Name, In Prudent Use Of State Resources

Have you ever confused the NAIA athletics program of New Orleans' Loyola University with that of the ACC's North Carolina State University? Both teams are known as the Wolfpack, you know, so any mixup would be understandable! The fine administration of NC State understands your plight, and is attempting to rectify the situation by suing accusing the itty-bitty Jesuit school of copyright infringement over naming rights, which is an efficient use of state employee's time and resources.

They've got some moxie to be trying this, too: Loyola began using the nickname about a decade before it made its first appearance in Raleigh. But it's nice to feel big and mean for once, we suppose. (The preceding sentence is a joke about NC State not being very good at sports.)

SB Nation's Backing The Pack suggests NOLA's Harry Connick, Jr. and State's John Tesh decide this whole thing with a piano duel. We would settle for Loyola renaming their team The Fightin' Tom O'Briens, just to see what happens.
