2011 College Football Spring Games: By The (Attendance) Numbers

Plucky up-and-coming reporter Darren Rovell has compiled a partial list of available college football 2011 spring game attendance numbers. We've cherry-picked a few of our favorites for your enjoyment this morning:

Our A is A-er Than Your A. That they call it the same thing is a point of some pugnacious contention within the state's borders, but Auburn's A-Day game drew "only" 53,209 announced attendees, while Alabama topped 90,000 again with room to spare. All that on a weekend when fanbases of both stripes were likely torn between spring football and Talladega

Huskers Rake It In. Nebraska pulled in a mere 66,784 screaming patrons in red makeup to the Cornhuskers' spring shindig, but at $10 a pop, those tickets did their part to prop up the athletic department war chest.

Sleeping it off in the Bayou. Do LSU fans hibernate during the winter? We think they must, as without the extra rest there's no way they can eat, drink, and holler like they do in-season and retain any shreds of humanity. ESPN was there, but most fans were a-snooze in their beds, with announced attendance figures of just over 25,000. We feel quite comfortable in assuring uninitiated readers that this particular swath of fandom will more than make up for this come September. Sleep tight!
