Auburn Football Recruiting 2012: Blue-Chip QB Zeke Pike Commits To Tigers
Zeke Pike, last seen earning our allegiance amid unsubstantiated but entertaining charges he winged a ball at a ref in a 7-on-7 game, has given defending national champion Auburn their first big recruiting coup of the 2012 class: The highly-touted quarterback our of Edgewood, Kentucky, destined for five-star ranking status if scout chatter is any indication, committed to play for the Tigers over the weekend, and spoke to our friends at Rivals on Wednesday about his decision:
Pike's certainly talking the talk: The last time we heard an Auburn quarterback invoke the "God thing," it was Cam Newton, and this was going on around him.
The list of interested parties who'd been recruiting him is a couple dozen schools long; at last count, Pike held offers from such programs as Clemson, Florida State, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC, and Wisconsin, along with eight SEC programs including Alabama and LSU.
