Cliff Harris Fails To Appear, But Oregon Football Should Avoid Violation Charge

Stay connected with SB Nation

There's good news, and there's bad news. First, the good news: the Register-Guard's Rob Moseley reports Cliff Harris and his two unnamed teammates shouldn't see their eligibility at risk due to that Altima joyride, though the Oregon Ducks would have to report Harris' use of the rental car as an extra benefit. So at least it could be worse.

And the bad news: Harris reportedly failed to appear in court to deal with his speeding and suspended license, again according to Moseley. He now owes $614 and probably made an impending suspension unavoidable.

But, for Oregon fans, at least Chip Kelly will get to decide for himself how many games Harris should miss instead of the NCAA doing the job for him. Docking him even one game is going to count for a lot, as the Ducks open with the LSU Tigers.
