Purdue Football Picks Up Patrick Bade From Basketball Team
The Purdue Boilermakers football team didn't need to go far to find the latest addition to their roster: Patrick Bade is switching from forward on the basketball team to lining up next to a tackle on the football field. Bade will be a tight end for the Boilermakers.
The 6-foot-8 sophomore appeared in 58 games for the Boilermakers basketball team over the last two seasons, but he never gained any long-term playing time. As a freshman in 2009-10, Bade averaged 1.5 points and 7.3 minutes per game, but this past season saw him receive even less time on the court.
Bade will need to relearn the tight end position as he hasn't played football since his junior year of high school. But he will need to do it quickly. The position is thin there as the leading returner at the position is Gabe Holmes who made one catch for 14 yards in 2010. Others at the position are junior college transfers or redshirt freshmen.
