Don't Expect Any Transparency In NCAA Tournament Selection Process

Yahoo! Sports Jason King recently spoke with Mike Bobinski, the Xavier athletic director who was recently appointed chairman of the 2012-13 Division I Men’s Basketball Committee. In their discussion, King asked about whether or not it would be a good idea to have reporters in the room while the committee was making it's selections. Bobinski isn't too thrilled with the idea.

"The difficult thing about that is that things that are said in there could be taken out of context. It’s like having a reporter sit in and watch basketball practice at Xavier. If they’re not someone who is in tune with what is going on and something happens, it could get represented in a way that does more harm than good. That’s part of the concern.

There's some validity to that. God forbid someone makes a wisecrack about a certain school that wasn't meant for public consumption and it gets out.
