Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. In this case, "indefinitely" really means "indefinitely" - Baylor coach Art Briles said during his Big 12 Media Days appearance on Monday that he had no idea how long Gordon would be gone.
Briles was asked how long Gordon might be out.
"I have no idea," Briles said. "Indefinitely might mean this afternoon, it might mean 10 years from now."
We still don't know what Gordon did, but this isn't his first offense. He was arrested in October for misdemeanor marijuana possession after being found out cold in the drive-thru of a Taco Bell.
Gordon was establishing himself as a tall receiver with big-play potential. He had 714 yards receiving in 2010, including two touchdowns and a 94-yard reception against Kansas and a 141-yard game against Kansas State. He's also likely to emerge as a terrific NFL Draft prospect. If his suspension were to drag on through the season, residents of the state of Kansas might be happy, but Baylor fans probably wouldn't, because he has plenty of upside this season. Baylor has a tough opening matchup against TCU on September 2.
