Mustafa Greene Injury: NC State's Top Running Back Out For At Least First Month

North Carolina State Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien says that running back Mustafa Greene will be out for at least four games of the 2011 season as he deals with a foot injury that occurred in spring practice.

In Greene's absence, James Washington and Curtis Underwood are first in line for playing time, or at least that's how the Wolfpack's depth chart currently looks. Dean Haynes, who was a surprise choice as the Wolfpack's starting halfback last year, is currently listed as a safety. Greene emerged in 2010 as the Wolfpack's primary running back (although the team also often turned to quarterback Russell Wilson to gain yards on the ground). With Greene healthy, there was little reason for Haynes to stick around at running back, so NC State moved him to the secondary in March. We'll see if that changes now that Greene is hurt.

Greene racked up 597 yards last year as a freshman, including 91 yards against Virginia Tech and 84 against Cincinnati.
