Pittsburgh freshman Darius Patton was hospitalized on Thursday night after collapsing during a non-contact portion of the Panthers' practice.

A scary moment unfolded during a afternoon practice session conducted by the Pittsburgh Panthers on Thursday. Sometime during a non-contact portion of practice, freshman wide receiver Darius Patton collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital. As of Thursday night, Patton was still in the hospital and under observation as a precaution. Patton is expected to recover, though there's been no word on what caused him to suddenly lose consciousness.

Pitt released a statement on Thursday evening, updating Patton's condition.

"During Pitt's afternoon practice session, freshman receiver Darius Patton passed out while participating in a non-contact exercise. He was subsequently transported to UPMC Presbyterian, where he was awake, alert and had strong vital signs. Darius will be kept overnight for observation but all initial indications are positive."

Patton collapsed about 45 minutes into an indoor practice. Details are few and far between, but it doesn't appear Patton's condition is serious or a long-term ailment, though nobody seems to know for sure.
