The death penalty has been mentioned as a possible punishment for the University of Miami's lack of oversight in the Nevin Shapiro case. This is silly talk. The University of Miami is in full control of its situation, and headed by fine leaders like Donna Shalala, seen here demonstrating the lucid, sensible strategic acumen that has made her one of the country's most respected university leaders.
I'm sorry. That's University of Miami President Donna Shalala turning into a half-woman, half-bird, and then flying over the Miami campus while screaming "Wheeeee," presumably while flying over Nevin Shapiro and some Hurricanes football players tooling around the Atlantic in his yacht. No one is in charge in Miami. No one has been in charge in Miami. No one will be in charge at any time in the foreseeable future. (Via Billy Corben.)
