Details of the bar brawl allegedly involving multiple LSU football players are still sketchy, but more information continues to trickle out by the day. After a torrent of information about the alleged involvement of LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and others, the attention turned to the victim on Thursday, with reports indicating he may have been harassing a woman just before the fight.

Now, more allegations have been levied against Andrew Lowery, the man who was reportedly kicked in the head, with witnesses at the scene telling reporters it was Lowery who threw the first punch.

"What we do know is that Lowery threw the first punch," said Peak, who has interviewed staff about what happened. "That’s one thing we do know and we will attest to—and he had been kicked out of the bar."

The police report said Lowery told investigators he was running to the aid of an unknown man who had been pulled from a pickup truck by men he believed were LSU football players. Lowery told police that he was able to help the man back into his truck, and was assaulted soon after by several people—including Jefferson and LSU linebacker Josh Johns—who Lowery said punched and kicked him repeatedly.

Even if Lowery did throw the first punch, kicking a man in the head while he's down would seem to go above and beyond self-defense.

Still, with allegations flying left and right, and both sides pointing fingers, it's going to be difficult to sort out what happened during the mayhem around closing time. Witness seem to be offering vastly different statements, and at this point it seems police are searching for a needle in a haystack while attempting to build a case.
