Texas Longhorns quarterback Connor Wood, who showed up tied for No. 3 on the team's 2011 depth chart, will reportedly transfer to the Colorado Buffaloes, according to Texas site Hookem.com, which cites his father.
Colorado fans already foresee Wood competing for the starting job in 2012, while Texas fans have been prepared for weeks for him to transfer. The Horns have settled on Garrett Gilbert as their current starting quarterback, and it looks like freshman David Ash is essentially the team's third quarterback anyway.
Wood was a three-time all-state selection out of high school in Houston and a star recruit in 2010, but pretty much everybody Texas brings on is all-Texas-something or other and a star recruit. He's already spent his redshirt year and will be able to join the Buffaloes on the field next year.

According to reports, Texas Longhorns quarterback Connor Wood is visiting the Colorado Buffaloes with transfer on his mind. The unveiling of the 2011 Texas Longhorns depth chart assuredly had something to do with it, with Wood appearing third-ish on the depth chart behind Garrett Gilbert and Case McCoy and tied with freshman David Ash.
Had a source I trust tell me #UT QB Connor Wood is visiting Colorado today to discuss a possible transfer. #hookem #Longhorns
Colorado fans are mostly fine with the idea, but do note they have some young incoming talent at the position already.
The 6-foot-4 redshirt freshman out of Houston was a four-star recruit and remains a solid student, but is staring a long way up the depth chart at the moment.
