Demarco Cobbs Injury: Texas Linebacker Has Broken Arm, Out 'Indefinitely'

An arm injury has taken a promising Texas linebacker off the table for at least a while.

It's the stretch run toward the college football season. All coaches have to do now is get their players to the season ready to play and without significant injury. It looks like Mack Brown and Co. didn't manage to do that in the case of linebacker Demarco Cobbs, according to a reporter with the Dallas Morning-News.

Keep in mind that Texas, which is looking to rebound from a 5-7 record, lost defensive coordinator Will Muschamp to Florida, replacing him with Mississippi State's Manny Diaz. Diaz has also moved several players, including Cobbs, around this year. Cobbs was getting praise from Texas coaches and fans after moving from the secondary to the linebacking corps.

Meanwhile, Texas is losing its top two linebackers (in terms of sacks) from last year. Sam Acho and Eddie Jones accounted for 15 of 31 sacks. So a little depth -- the kind that Cobbs would have provided if he were still healthy -- couldn't have hurt.
