Tulsa wide receiver Damaris Johnson has officially been charged with felony embezzlement, according to a report from Tulsa World. Johnson has not been taken into custody as of Wednesday evening according to the Tulsa County Clerk's office. He is currently free on bond awaiting a Sept. 15 court appearance.
Johnson is charged with stealing $2,610.67 worth of clothing and other items along with his girlfriend Charmon Jones between Aug. 20 and Aug. 25 of this year. Jones, an employee at Macy's department store, reportedly ran $1,596.09 worth of merchandise on Johnson's debit card but charged just $12.91 in one instance. In another instance, Johnson purchased $1,238.75 worth of merchandise for only 34 cents.
Johnson was a second-team All-American last year and is currently the NCAA's all-time leader in all-purpose yardage. He has been suspended indefinitely according to Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship. Both Jones and Johnson have reportedly been cooperative with officials.
