Malcolm Williams Has Left Texas To Focus On Family And Academics, Says Mack Brown

Texas coach Mack Brown announced Thursday that wide receiver Malcolm Williams will miss his senior season and focus on a family situation as well as academics.

Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown announced Thursday that wide receiver Malcolm Williams will miss his senior season and focus on a family situation as well as academics.

"He’s had some tough things happen that would be tough for all of us, that got tougher in the summer. He was planning on playing, but some more things popped up. This morning, we talked. I want what’s best for him. I wish him well."

The 6-foot-3, 220 pound receiver would have been Texas' only senior wideout. He caught 24 balls for 334 yards and two touchdowns in 2010 and was the team's 2nd-leading receiver in 2009, catching 39 passes for 550 yards and two TDs.

Williams is also the third WR to leave the program this off-season. Sophomore Greg Timmons left the program during the summer and junior Marquis Goodwin left the team to concentrate on track and field.
