The 2011 college football season opens with 13 games on Thursday night, highlighted by Russell Wilson's first game in Wisconsin. Head here for the rest of the weekend's TV schedule.
You won't find a complaint here about the lack of top-ranked teams playing on college football's opening Thursday. The No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers, featuring Russell Wilson, and No. 20 Mississippi St. Bulldogs, who are rumored to be without a handful of players, are in action, but not facing each other, but this shouldn't bother you.
Louisville starts off the year at 6 pm ET, welcoming Murray State, with a smattering of activity across the country following. Both Missy State and the Badgers play at 8 pm ET.
One important note for Big East fans: the game between UConn and Fordham has been postponed to Saturday due to Hurricane Irene-stunted travel. The Paul Pasqualoni era is in no particular hurry to get here, but it is on its way.
Here's the Sept. 1 TV schedule of game times and channels. We'll have much more on the way throughout the evening, plus quick previews of the two big(gish) games):
