College Football Rankings: SEC Teams Dot Week 3 AP, USA Today Polls

Stay connected with SB Nation

The SEC places four teams in the top 14 of both the Week 3 AP Poll and Week 3 USA Today coaches poll, and leads the nation in the Week 3 college football rankings with seven teams ranked.

Alabama and LSU are the two SEC standard-bearers so far in 2011: the Tide and Tigers are second and third in both polls, with Alabama jumping past LSU in the Week 3 AP Poll after dispatching Penn State in Happy Valley.

South Carolina is also in the top 10 of both polls, but just barely — the Gamecocks are No. 10 in both the AP and USA Today polls for Week 3 after surviving on the road at Georgia in Week 2.

The rest of the SEC isn't exactly slacking. Unbeaten Arkansas and Florida both check in in the teens, with the Gators (No. 16 AP/No. 17 USA Today) poised to join the Razorbacks (No. 14 AP/No. 13 USA Today) in the top 15 with a win in their Week 3 clash with Tennessee.

Auburn and Mississippi State played a great game on Saturday, and each ends up in the Week 3 rankings as a result: the Tigers are No. 19 in the AP poll and No. 21 in the USA Today poll, while the Bulldogs are No. 25 in both polls.
