The Oregon 'O' Now A Penalty, Oregon Uniforms Remain Unpenalized

I think we can all agree that the biggest problem currently facing college football is not conference realignment or BCS controversies or illegal booster payments or even Brian Kelly's temper.

The greatest threat to college football is post-touchdown hand symbols.

New Pac-12 coordinator of officiating Mike Pereira says the Ducks signature 'O' shape the players occasionally make with their hands after a touchdown, "borderlines on unsportsmanlike conduct."

Star-divide

Pereira says he will personally call Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly and tell him to warn his players they risk being flagged for a penalty moving forward.

Suddenly, the Pinstripe Bowl salute doesn't seem like the dumbest penalty you can think of.

Perhaps the most egregious part of this entire thing is that Oregon will continue to remain unpunished every time they do this.

To see some equally incredulous reactions to this, head on over to Oregon blog Addicted To Quack.

Pereira is NOT the Pac12 head of officiating.

Tony Corrente is. Pereira is merely a consultant. This happened back in June.

I’ve never seen a group of people get so irritated over a consultant’s opinion.
