One eagle runs into a luxury suite and ruins all the fun for everyone. After Spirit made a wrong turn and slammed into a window at Jordan-Hare stadium -- be honest, you laughed -- PETA sprung into action, sending a letter calling on Auburn to retire its live mascot.
In the letter, PETA asked the Tigers to be "good sports," which ... well, good luck with that.
Animals aren't performers or party decorations, and they don't deserve to be frightened, hurt or even killed just so we can have a momentary thrill.
In light of Spirit's disturbing accident, let's hope the Tigers will be good sports and retire their animal mascots to sanctuaries, where they can live out their days in peace and safety.
When reached for comment, Spirit had the following to say...
Guess that settles it.
