You were expecting SEC West football? Tremendous, because there has already been plenty of it. Mississippi St. Bulldogs fans entered the game as fired up as they've ever been, the LSU Tigers put up a nasty early defensive showing, and the two teams battled down the field on a 77-yard, three-point drive by LSU.
The Tigers lead, 3-0, is the short way of saying that.
LSU converted two of its three third downs on the drive. Quarterback Jarrett Lee missed only one of his five attempts, and that one was so tightly defensed that at least one official may have considered a flag. Spencer Ware pounded out 29 yards on seven carries, and Jarvis Landry's 18-yard grab leads all receivers.
No Mississippi State players accumulated any stats of note on their opening three-and-out. They'll try again! Offensive line depth is going to be a concern for both sides from this point out, with Tobias Smith leaving for MSU and LSU losing Chris Faulk, at least for a moment.
