LSU Vs. Mississippi State Score, Fourth Quarter: Kicking Exhibition Continues

Stay connected with SB Nation

Hello. When last we spoke, the LSU Tigers led the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, 6-3. A quarter has passed since then -- LSU now leads, 9-6. Big hits and tough runs have set up kickers Drew Alleman and Derek DePasquale with showcases for their particular talents, and a nation is riveted.

After the most recent field goal, the Tigers dialed up an onside kick attempt, which MSU dealt with responsibly. The Bulldogs soon punted, appearing to pin LSU deep in their own country. The way this game has gone, you kind of expected LSU to run out the remaining 15 minutes on this next drive. Alas, it was ruled a touchback, which will leave Mississippi State with a few minutes for some field goal drives.

Jarrett Lee to Rueben Randle has been the only really noteworthy offensive statistical pairing tonight, with Randle's 84 yards receiving making up much of Lee's 174 through the air.
