The LSU defense was the story of the night on Thursday, but quarterback Jarrett Lee, thrust into the starting role due to the suspension of Jordan Jefferson, put together a solid, nearly mistake-free game in the Tigers' 19-6 win. Lee's performance was far from spectacular -- the same of which can be said for both offenses -- but the LSU quarterback pieced together a respectable game, throwing for 213 yards, one touchdown and an interception.
Lee missed on just six passes, one of which went to the other team. The interception snapped a streak of 131 attempts without a pick, the second-best mark in school history. But outside of the one mistake, Lee played mistake free, keeping his defense out of a hole and moving the offense along at a slow, but steady, pace.
It wasn't as though Lee had to carry the team -- with an incredibly stout defense and a strong running game, he didn't have to play outside himself. Instead, Lee managed the game, and it paid off for the Tigers.
And when he needed to, Lee reached back and delivered a strike to Rueben Randle for the Tigers' first, and only, touchdown of the game, effectively ending the Bulldogs' hope of pulling the upset.
