Maryland's Ronnie Tyler Arrested For Punching Man In Front Of Police, According To Report

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Maryland Terrapins suspended wide receivers Ronnie Tyler and Quintin McCree for violations of team rules. Coach Randy Edsall described the impetus for those suspensions as being either academic, athletic or social in nature. It sounds like it may indeed have been a social concern.

Terps blog Testudo Times uncovered last night  that Tyler had been arrested, with the Washington Times providing some very anti-social details. Tyler is accused of second-degree assault. More specifically, of punching a 33-year-old man in front of a police officer and then fleeing toward campus. No word yet on what role McCree may have played in the incident, but he was present.

Pretty bad timing for Maryland, which has to find a way to outscore the West Virginia Mountaineers minus a couple of its top offensive producers.
