Neither Louisville or Kentucky have exactly been tested this year. The two teams have played a grand total of four games and neither one of them has played a team from a major conference. That said, the Cardinals did figure out a way to get badly outplayed by Florida International, and Kentucky has looked awful against Western Kentucky and Central Michigan.
Perhaps for that FIU game alone, the Wildcats are the default favorites against their biggest rival.
Despite last week's performance, though, the Cardinals should be capable of at least hanging in there. Quarterback Will Stein has thrown for 574 yards and four touchdowns in his first two games, admittedly against less-than-stellar competition.
The Wildcats have gotten off to their 2-0 start mainly on the strength of a defense that is allowing just 8.0 points per game. If they have shown any weakness, it's probably in stopping the run where they've allowed 114.5 yards per game.
Game Date, Time: 7 PM ET, Saturday, Sept. 17
Location: Commonwealth Stadium, Lexington, Ky.
TV Channel: ESPNU
Spread: Kentucky by 4.5
