No. 2 Alabama returns home to face North Texas at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night.
Running back Trent Richardson is the engine driving the Crimson Tide offense, with the junior carrying the ball 39 times for 148 yards and five touchdowns over the first two games this season. Richardson and Eddie Lacy, who has 143 yards on 19 carries, take pressure off sophomore quarterback A.J. McCarron, who rebounded from his two-interception performance against Kent State to complete 19-of-31 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown against the Nittany Lions on Saturday night.
Sophomore linebacker C.J. Mosley has been a top performer on the Alabama defense, leading the team with eight tackles against Penn State and recording two tackles for a loss and a quarterback sack on the season.
First-year Mean Green head coach Dan McCarney brings his team into Tuscaloosa with an 0-2 record, losing to Florida International and the Houston Cougars by a combined score of 89-39 to open the season. Sophomore wide receiver Brelan Chancellor is the Mean Green offensive player the Crimson Tide will have to account for. Chancellor has six receptions for 104 yards on the season, but has averaged 28.4 yards on 17 kick returns this season, including a 73-yard return last week against Houston.
Sophomore linebacker Zachary Orr leads the North Texas defense with 19 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
