Temple Vs. Penn State Score: Owls Leading Early, Looking For First Win In Series Since 1941

Stay connected with SB Nation

Penn State failed to do much against Alabama when the Crimson Tide came to State College in Week 2. Now, the Nittany Lions are having trouble with in-state foe Temple in Week 3, trailing Steve Addazio's Owls 7-0 after the first quarter in Philadelphia.

Bernard Pierce capped an 82-yard touchdown drive with a two-yard run for Temple, and the Owls have stalled two Penn State possessions that threatened to turn into points and benefited from three Penn State penalties and a missed field goal to keep their lead.

The Owls led Penn State in the two teams' 2010 match-up, when Temple led at halftime and deep into the third quarter before ultimately falling, 22-13, but have not beaten the Nittany Lions since 1941. Joe Paterno turned 15 in 1941.
