Eastern Michigan got on the board first, and for a brief moment they looked like they might extend their lead when Tyler Benz threw into the end zone on a trick play ... but then Michigan safety Thomas Gordon came down with the ball.
On the very next play, Denard Robinson did what Denard Robinson does, breaking off a 52-yard run. He added a 22-yard run a few plays later, eventually finding Kevin Kroger in the end zone for a nine-yard touchdown, capping off an impressive 97-yard drive. Michigan leads 7-3, and all is right with the world.
Eastern might be tougher than Michigan realized ... but they're still Eastern. They may challenge Michigan's decidedly average defense, but we're already seeing they can't contain Robinson (who can?), at least not for very long. As I publish this update, Robinson already has 120 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Update: Robinson just ran for an 11-yard touchdown. See what I mean? 14-3, Michigan.
